Based on nearly 40 years experience in the auto business, I believe most cars produced in the last 10 years are good for 250,000 miles.The change that has most influenced better production is often related to EPA requirements. Where we see the difference in cost of ownership is based on how well required maintenance has been kept up. The cost of that second hundred thousand miles is directly related to how well the car has been maintained. The resale value of a car with over a hundred thousand miles on it is much higher if accurate maintenance records are available to a buyer.
